Wheel Specs

Anyone know the wheel specifications of the 15" aluminum wheels coming on the current 5er's?

I'm wondering what the Max Load is as well as if the wheels can handle a 80PSI load-range E tire. Also wondering who makes them.

The info might be stamped on the back of the rims but I cannot see it without pulling a wheel off.

I can't answer your question but where did you find load range E tires that are 15in.?

You can get the Maxxis at Discount Tire. They also have some other E rated 15" tires...Greenballs, etc. I think Goodyear Marathons are also available in 15" with E rating.

Thank you for the information. I was planning on getting 16 in wheels so I could use E rated LT tires like I had on the old 5er. Are any of the listed tires made in the USA?

The Maxxis I just bought were made in Thailand. From what I read, some of the Marathons are US made and some are made in China. Some advise switching to LT tires instead of ST but be careful of the load range. And there doesn't appear to be a lot of choice in 15" LT's. There's a lot of discussion on tires on the tech forum at rv.net...it's only slightly less controversial than politics or religion. :)

If my existing 15" aluminum wheels can handle 75 or 80 PSI I will consider switching to the Maxxis load range-E ST tire. If they can only handle 65 PSI I will probably go with new 16" wheels and Michelin LT tires.

Either way, I will wait til the warranty expires. With reasonable care, I should be able to get a safe two years from my stock Marathons.

Just need to know what my 15" inch wheels can handle. If I need new wheels I can start looking now to try and get a good deal.

Make sure you get steel valve stems.. the rubber ones are no good over 50 lbs

Seann, it seems that my trailer has the Marathon tires. If it ever quits raining I will crawl under a slide and see where my tires come from. Hopefully they won't speak Chineese.
