While surfing U-Tube, I found a clip containing a few RV tips. I like the idea of swimming pool hose. The idea of styrofoam could stop slide topper fabric from over flapping in strong wind as well.

Hope this helps others.. A cheap Walmart plastic ball works to stop the flapping & keeps water from pooling. Just slip it between the awning and the slide roof.

How ironic... we saw a tt this weekend using a beach type ball like you mentioned. I can see where it would definitely help with the pooling :)
