Replaced mattress

Probably not all that exciting, but we're tired of the springy, soft, un-supportive, and too short, factory mattress. I just picked up a residential sized, queen pillow-top mattress. It's a little tight to walk around, but I can't wait to sleep with my feet on the bed instead of hanging off the end and not wake up stiff in the morning.

I have to agree those RV queens are a bit short. I`m 5'8 and they are none too comfy for me, I cannot imagine how a tall guy sleeps in one, I guess diagonal or with feet hanging off?

Bryan, I was having a similar problem. When I woke up in the morning my back was sore from having my feet over the end of the bed. We upgraded the foam bed the trailer came with to one with springs in it. The new mattress is a RV tight top model and is pretty hard. We will put a memory foam topper on it for next season and slide the mattress further down the bed and build up underneath wear the pillows lie to accomplish what you've done . Well that's the plan at this point.

This is one purchase you will not regret. It was the first mod I did to my Rv and we love it. You can actually role over in the middle of the night without disturbing your wife. It just makes camping alot more fun when you can get a goodnights sleep.

The bed in mine felt more like a box spring than a mattress. So i just made it into the box spring and bought a 4 inch memory foam mattress topper. Worked great. it is VERY comfortable now.

I must be one tough old broad. I'm 5' 8" and I can sleep stretched out comfortably on a twin sized bed without any body parts hanging over (although if I'm having problems with foot cramps, hanging my feet over the end helps).

I've been debating whether to replace the queen sized mattress in the 330RLTS I'm going to get with a residential full sized one (the bed board would have to be trimmed down).

Advantages: easier to make bed, especially the bedspread, more walkabout room at the foot of the bed, cheaper bedding, and no need to raise the bed to bring in the slide.

Disadvantages: Easier to drop things between the mattress and the slide wall (and it would be a bugger to retrieve them), I would lose a bit of storage space since I would have otherwise increased the width of the storage area beneath the bed to take advantage of the wasted (and hard to clean) area between the existing box and the slide walls, and I have friends with seriously tall husbands (any guests I have will get the bedroom since I can sleep on the couch).

Decisions. sigh!

We bought the "deluxe" mattress and added a memory foam topper and then a cotton topper and now the bed is great!

I'll know for sure this time next week, leaving Friday for Fort Wilderness at Disney, my son is beside himself with excitement! Should be a great trip with all the good rest I can finally get.

Our last rig had one of those 74" RV deals. Rather than replace the entire thing I added 6" of wood filler to the head portion and pushed the mattress all the way to the foot wall. Then I topped it with a queen size 2" latex foam topper and cover to make is close to a true queen as I could. What a diference!
We took the latex foam topper and pad with me to our Jayco unit and I sleep great. If you have not tried latex foam vs memory it's night and day. Latex gives and will not fluctuate with temps. It has holes throughout it so it breaths and does not get hot. Memory I found annoying due to having to wait sometimes longer than a minute for it to react, especially if it is cold. The latex toppers are like a big firm sponge.

Well after eights of sleeping on the new mattress, BIG THUMBS UP! It was definately worth it. Oh, Disney was a amazing as well.
