New truck for me too

I will be upgrading my 99 Silverado extend cab 4.8 L with 300 thousand km on it, to a 2007 Silverado Crewcab. It is the LT model with the 6 liter motor. I saw it on Craigslist and couldn't believe it only had 35 thousand kilometers on it. It is dark metallic blue with a matching Leer canopy. It also has 20 inch tires a HD transmission, and trailering suspension. I have to install a break controller so it has never towed anything.

I took it for a run out on the highway and fell in love with it. It has leather bucket seats with a power sunroof. I've never owned such a luxurious vehicle.
Just got the bank financing for it today and will pick it up Friday.

Oddly enough my wife and I are involved in a tv production called Million Dollar Neighborhood. They want to film the salesman handing over the keys. It will be a great day. After buying our Jayco this year I really needed to up the tow vehicle. Initially I wanted a diesel but it was out of our reach. Life's a compromise and truth be told i'm lucky to still be here.;)

I towed a 32foot Eagle 8,000LBS with the Chevy Max with the 6.0 engine. Did an excellent job. You will enjoy the ride! Have fun and happy camping!

Sweet ride man... word of caution... every time you rotate tires check the inside of the rims for cracking... I lost a factory mag rim this summer... from my reading I guess it is not uncommon

Sounds like a great truck. My son tows a Calibur that same size with a 6.0 Chevy and it works well.

Thanks for the feedback. It was a good find. I was the second person to have the chance to buy it. It listed new for 52 although I doubt people pay list. With 14 grand in accessories a person could have purchased a one ton Duramax for the same amount of money. Can't wait to pick it up. The following week I have to pick up my trailer from the dealership I bought it from. It's a 400 km drive over a high mountain pass. Hopefully this is where the payoff will be. I noticed on the original window decal that it claims to get 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Even with the truck shutting down 4 cylinders when able , I think it's unlikely to get that good of gas milage.

It depends on how fast you drive it.. the faster you go the faster you burn fuel. My 04 duramax gets 22 mpg highway solo at 100 kph (62 mph)

Is the truck a 1500 or 2500? 1500HD most likely has a 3.73 rear end, and the 2500 should have 4.10s. The 1500 will get better mpg, but doubtful it will be as high as 24mpg. Either way, the new truck will be a BIG improvement over the old when it comes to towing.

It has the 3.73 rear end which I prefer for better gas milage. I'm only towing about 6000 pounds so I should be fine. The truck is a 1500 and has it's own badging called vortecMax. Not sure if they consider this the Hd model but I know it has the beefier (hardened ) tranny, suspension and rear axel. Just one more day! The salesman told me he has never had so many enquiries for a vehicle in the 9years working there. ;)

We went by that TV production yesterday to look for a car for my daughter. What is the deal with the TV show idea?

It's a show for the Opera network.called "Million Dollar Neighborhood" A company called Fource Four which previously produced "Village on a Diet" is making a documentary about a small community that has come together to save/acquire a million dollars over a 10 week period. Every week we are given challenges to meet the 100 thousand dollar weekly event. There are about 50 families involved who are given financial advise by professionals, and this is the reason my wife and I got involved in it. The car sale you saw, (was 2 miles from my house in Aldergrove BC) was part of the transportation theme. We had to sign a NDF so I'm limited in what I can say. But I can tell you that it has been a lot of really hard work that has been richly rewarded by meeting some really nice people who we may not have met otherwise. Seeing how a show is made is really interesting, and a lot of the film crews have worked on the show where the contestants fly all over the world. Sorry but forgot the name of it. The show is going to be on tv early next year sometime. So far it's been a lot of fun and am looking forward to another five weeks. We are not in front of the camera as much as others but that is fine by us. We're happy to have the free financial advice.;)

I picked up a 2007 Silverado 4.8L extended cab (33k miles) two months ago in anticipation of purchasing a TT in the Spring. It's a great ride, very comfortable and I'm looking forward to hooking up a TT and hitting the road.

The red looks very nice. I like the new style and especially the way it rides. The turning radius is not as good as my old 2wd but my new one is a 4x4 so I guess I'm to expect that. My old truck was tan in color and it just seemed that anyone who had that previous style more than likely had that color too. The new colors are warm and rich and the metallic luster looks great.
