Thumbs up 2011!

My 8 year old son, wife, trusty canine companion and me are becoming Fulltimers in 2011. I'll be doing contract work on the road and we're homeschooling our son. It's going to be an adventure for sure and we're very excited.

We're viewing it as an escape. Call me old fashioned but a life on the road to us is much more desirable than just standing in place waiting to retire. Hell I could get philosophical but I don't want to rustle any feathers... we're just glad to be getting out of the rat race and on to a life of adventure and unexpected unknowns!

Cheers to 2011!!

For three years during our kids' middle school years, we took off around the country camping/traveling to see new places for six weeks at a pop. I loved hitting the road, and so did the kids! Your 8 year old will get to experience first hand what he will be learning in Social Studies course work. Good for!

We too hope that "Full-Timing" will become a reality for us.
We are very happy staying at the RV every weekend and getting away from the rat-race that's full of "I, Me,Mine" life-styles. It's a shame that the "Family-Unit" must escape society to survive. I guess I should just say that we're just sick and tired of how self-centered people have gotten. We have rediscovered humanity, and it's alive and well, and flourishing in camp-grounds all over the country.

Healthi's right about your son getting to see and do first hand what he's studying. Best of luck, my wife and I have considered fulltiming it ourselves though our kids are now grown with kids of their own. I look forward to reading your posts regarding your adventures, etc on the road.

See you on the road! We too will be heading out next year in our 365BHS; me, wifey, three kids under 10 and a dog... Leaving from RI once the house sells.

Make sure you get your son in some activities so he interacts with other kids his age.... the YMCA has some great kids programs.
