Amost killed in Utah

Going down I-15 I was passed by a Denbeste semi the guy almost overran a car in the left lane he was going so fast and he swerved to the right to miss the other car.. his rear trailer tires were even with my door.. I braked hard and swerved to the shoulder... he missed me by inches.. thank goodness I still have fast reflexes and a Hensley Arrow hitch... the TT stayed right behind me like it was planted.. I called Denbeste corporate office and reported the incident to their safety officer. had a long talk with her and am waiting for a follow up..

Glad everything worked out for the best. Shows again how careful we all must be when towing, not only watching out for ourselves, but also for all the crazy drivers out there........happy camping!

Glad you were able to successfully run that gauntlet. There are always a few crazies out there.

Too bad you didn't have a dashcam. Sending the video to the company's safety officer would have left little room for doubt.

Glad to hear you still have the reflexes Sean and didn't have a major incident.

Bet you will be glad to get where you are finally headed and can relax.

Glad you and the trailer are safe Seann. Let us know if you get a response from the trucking company.

Not that I am defending the driver but if you were going down hill he may not have had breaks and did not have any choice. If this is not the situation he should not be driving!

We tow our 5er quite a bit and I drive my company truck about 40k miles a year so I see a lot of crazy drivers, close calls and even seen my share of accidents while driving on the interstates.

Glad you are safe and were able to avoid a accident.

I see a number of RV's on the road that look like they are "Out of Control" during normal driving due to being overloaded, poor hitches or just inexperenced drivers.

You have to constantly watch what is in front, beside and behind you all at once !!!

I agree with you, Rob. I, too, have seen many questionable drivers and towing set ups. Makes me think that maybe having a towing endorsement on your driver license might be a good idea. But, OTOH, more regulation without enforcement doesn't help. So, as it stands, we must watch out for the idiots and avoid them.

I'm somewhat familiar with Denbeste and a lot of their drivers are real cowboys. If you really want to get them in hot water complain to the federal DOT. That will get their attention. As wages continue to deteriorate as compared to the cost of living it is harder and harder for companies to find quality help in the commercial driver market.
