another dumb question
We are about to take off ,if the house sale goes thru. What do you all do about the mail. WE won't have an address as such after the house sale. No idea where we'll be to do a forward . I have daughters that I can use their address but they live in a state where the Insurance, licensefees, and income tax are higher so I would prefer to not do that. Can we function without an address, with direct withdrawal ect? Thanks ,I am determined to stop asking questions one of these days.

naaaa! We love questions!
I am not a full timer, so some of our full timers can help more than me, but I will mention one of the bill pay services I use -- it is called Paytrust and is owned by the folks that do Quicken. What makes them unique is you can have your paper bills sent to them. They scan them and send you an email notifying you of the bill. You can then get online, see the bill, and pay it. They also have automated payment rules if you like.
Works great for those companies that do not have electronic bills yet.

For now just keep your current bank accounts and check/pay your bills on the computer. We are not fulltime as we are in our house for about three months each year. There are several mail forwarding services that may meet your needs. There are several full timers on this site and they can tell you what they do. South Dakota seems to be very popular with the retired RVers.

I talked to a full timer a few months ago, and he explained that lots of folks will select a state they want to be a resident of (on with no income tax, for example). Various companies offer PO boxes that you can buy, and will forward mail for you. You register any and all paperwork in that state, licence plates, drivers licences, etc. and go from there.

South Dakota and Texas are two popular "on paper" addresses. lots of mail forwarding companies you can register with .. or join the Escapees and use their service..

We Picked South Dakota
We've been fulltimers for a whole month now We chose to have our "residence" be Sioux Falls, SD. They have a great mailing service there called Alternative Resources. We were able to establish residency overnight, get drivers licenses and register to vote. No income tax and low fees for auto registrations.
Good luck, see you on the road!

Go to the Escapees website and it answers most of your questions. It all depends on your current state of residency and their 'rules'.
The key is usually a permanent mailing address. Where will it be and how will you get mail forwarded. Escapees will do this (for a fee) if you choose to become a resident of SD, TX, or FL. Good Sam has theirs in FL.
Yes, we use the Escapees service in TX.
