Bicycles

While in Florida wife and I decided we needed bicycles.

I don't really want them on my camper bumper so they must go in the back of the truck which has a camper shell on it. It's usually pretty full with my golf clubs, cooler, and dog kennel and such, so they need to be folding bikes.

I'm interested in what you all use.

I've seen 20" folders on amazon for $125 up, and a 26" folder for $150. 20" might be fine for the wife but I think too small for me. Maybe I should just get 2 of the 26" models.

My 10 y/o daughter is growing out of her 20" bike. I think you should be focusing on 26" for adults.

Try one of these: Arvika Bike Rack - pricey but a very good way to carry full size bikes on the FRONT of your travel trailer. I would prefer a full size, non-folding bike to any foldables if that is an option.

Nice bike rack ease of access...........

Usual on RV's there's a lot of storage on front which will at to the TW. So there has to be some compensation. As for bicycles on rear there has to be some weight adjusting too. Keep TW within the 10 to 15% range and you'll be fine. The disadvantage in the truck box is mostly for 1/2 tons has the payload disappears fast with increase of trailer size. Be sure to travel level with TV and TT as sway will increase with TT nose up or down.

Recommendation - Columba full-sized bikes

We LOVE our Columba folding 26" bikes and would highly recommend them. Instead of purchasing them from Amazon, for a better price we purchased direct from the vendor (2KSilver) who provided outstanding service/support. We recommended to my sister, who also purchased from them - we all meet-up in Yosemite for biking the valley floor. We didn't want to lift/mount the bikes over our 30# propane tanks so we transport the them either in our covered truck bed (next to the generators) or inside the TT by the side of the bed. Check-out our previous post (#25) and pictures on what we purchased at:
