Fulltiming considerations

The wife and I have considered the possibility of fulltiming it but there are a couple of things that make you stop and think. One is the economy; if things should get worse the price at campgrounds will likely go up and unless you're a Work Camper your pockets should be fairly deep. Fuel is another consideration especially if you're the kind that likes to move around a lot. My truck burns diesel and diesel is averaging $2.90 a gal in my area, higher once I'm out of town ($3.10 and up) so that's a major consideration. Also to add to this list, my Jayco 5th wheel isn't one I'd want to fulltime in. The bedroom would be cramped over the "long haul" and so I'd have to move to something larger or purchase the correct size motorhome, both a hefty sum of $$$.

There's more to fulltiming than the above but those are a couple of considerations one has to face, IMO. Still it does sound appealing at times.

It's just the matter of comfort. I've seen full timers with light weight rigs and mansions like Mobile Suites, NewMars, Teton Homes, Ect. I can full time in my unit if I moved with the weather but I would miss my solid foundation and investment.

What you say is true enough, it's just my unit won't allow me to stay completely upright beside the bed. When I awake I have to scoot to the end so I can stand up, well unless I want to be on a 45° angle. I also have to deal with the wife and she has decided a Class A motorhome might be better (been married 44 yrs and one learns a thing or two in that length of time. ). We'll see how things workout over the next year or so.

I see what your saying, evidentily your unit does not have a bedroom slide, been there and done that.

Hi Pete
the one thing to remember that if you are full timing you dont have a house to support. Property taxes light water etc.. you may find that pays for the diesel and cg fees.. or better yet learn to boondock... I dislike cg's and much prefer to camp out in the wild

You're absolutely right Seann and, if you don't like your neighbors all ya gotta do is tell the CG owner you want to move to another site.
