Will you be heading back to Canada? When do you actually hit the road?

What happens if you exceed the 183 days? Is it Canada or the US that cares? Just curious.

Your parking meter is running out lol.
I never knew there was a limit until talking with my friends in Florida this year.

Safe travels,
Doug

After the time limit, the health care coverage runs out. So, just don't get sick.

It's not so much the time away from Canada. You must be resident inside Canada a minimum number of days in a year to have health coverage for the portion of the year you're at home in Canada. Health care is at the provincial level, so technically the time must be within your province, but that is real hard to track.

The DW tells me there are also implications for personal income tax, as a person would be deemed to be a non-resident Canadian.

We got 2" of snow again last night here in Husker Nation. Winter is very long lived this year, but we'll take the snow or any form of precipitation to ease last year's severe drought. We'd prefer rain, though, as are about 8" over average for snow fall this year.

I'll be coming through your neck of the woods (Saskatoon) in mid May on our way to AK for the summer. Hopefully spring will have sprung that far north by then.

Safe travels northward!

How do 'they' know when you get back? Do you have to check in with someone?

When you cross the border from either direction, your passport is scanned. They know all about you, right there on their computer screen.

Both I become an illegal alien in the states after that and will loose my health care benefits in Canada
