Where you going this Winter?

Yup we are already thinking about joining our friends down at our Winter digs and it's really not to early to think about it. With that we are still getting out camping locally with friends over the Summer and enjoying times with friends here in Reno.

After traveling years in the SW we have settled into the Casa Grande, AZ area and now about 11 miles South on I-10 in Eloy, AZ in particular.

We'll be at the Silverado RV Resort again this Winter.

The area has so much history, like alot of the SW, and plenty to do. Casa Grande has many of the big box stores, good restaurants (many ethnic), great grocery stores and the list goes on and on.

Winter climate? Tough to beat...and no bugs!! Day time temps high 60's to mid 70's (last year we had temps in the 80's in January). Night time high 30's to mid 40's and have never froze up. Here is a Trip Journal entry from January 2016.

Our Trip Journal has the 'skinny' on our travels.

Safe travels everyone!!

We are already here. Can't wait for cooler temperatures. We natives dig out the jackets when temps are below 70F.

My sister and her family moved to Atlanta this spring. Looking to spend Thanksgiving with them. Looking to drag the trailer. I have to go in their front door and exclaim "The s***** is full!"

Unfortunately, sometime in later November I will be winterizing until next April, but next year we have lots of cool trips planned, Gettysburg, DC, Cherrystone VA, Jersey Shore, and the biggie is to Yellowstone in August. For those of you that are fortunate enough to be able to camp in the winter safe travels!

Grumpy, I'd like to be parked right next to you! We are going to be at WDW on 10/3 after our Dream Cruise, then again on 11/4-11/7 (before another Dream Cruise) then 11/11-11/13. One of these years we are heading down with our MH until then it's our DVC we will use!

Call us crazy... but we can explain. We will be spending our second winter season in the "tropics" of South Dakota. While still active duty, we RV where the government tells us to, at least for another couple of years. We bought our Pinnacle in the warmth of Texas but as a military PCS standard; once you make a plan, Uncle Sam changes it. We spent last year here, the only ones on Ellsworth AFB as care takers (like a host with no guests LOL). Being originally from the Midwest, the weather didn't scare us but RV life in it had us concerned. As advertised, the Pinnacle did amazing!!! We actually enjoyed the winter-RV experience; it was so amazing to be on our dream RV and watch a fresh snow fall with with a dozen deer roaming 10' outside our windows. However, my wife is more than quick to say we will winter in FL when it's our choice. So you all keep the beaches warm for us and we will see you after we serve a few more winters in the north tier. Crazy but having fun!

This was our first snow fall last year, many feet of frozen sand followed...

Mesa

We are headed to Mesa AZ in 4 days. Probably spend 10 days enjoying Utah parks on the way. Love the SW!

We're at the DD's farm in NY state. Heading to Key West, then up the Gulf coast and across the southern tier to CA, then on to Quartzite by late March, early April, or not at all, depending on the attractions coming across the country. No rush, we'll do maybe 250 miles a day. Great to be retired!

I was planning to fly down to Yuma in January to see old friends and do my Mexico glasses run, but received a call from my old landlord and as a result will be driving down around the 27th of December for 3 months. The price was right. I just hope the weather cooperates from Alberta to the south.

Heading for the central eastern shore of Florida. RV park is cleaning up after Hurricane Matthew and will be ready by Dec. 1. The park just went through a reno,,,underground electric, new water lines etc. Of course, the beach is shot to hell, but at least it's not Minnesota in the winter..

Not exactly winter, but shoving off @ 2 NOV for elk hunt south of John Day, OR - boondocking at its very best: something to do (keep from freezing both bodies and water), chasing BIG Bambis, tellin' lies and sitting around a nice fire in PM with "snow snake" medicine. Never saw a snow snake, but one really should be inoculated!
