Beavers Bend, Broken Bow OK

If you ever get a chance to spend time at Beavers Bend, go for it! Great park, beautiful scenery and oh so relaxing! The pictures were taken with my Iphone, but they still turned out pretty well.

Spent a week there last September, by far one of the best parks we have visited.

Kitty and I grew up just a few miles from Beaver's Bend. Kitty is from Broken Bow, and I'm from a little farther south. That country is so beautiful. At one time on could venture into the woods and explore some great sites, Otter Creek, Bigum creek, Bear Creek, Five mile hollow, all on the east side of the lake. I think Weyerhauser has stopped most of that now. I can recall camping in the area at a place that is now under the lake. (that was a long time ago, early 60's)

Kitty and I looked into taking the Gkids there to camp, however, they do not do reservation and we have to have a full hookup site. Wish they would start doing reservation.

Thanks for the reminder. I know where you were standing when you took the pics.

They do take reservations, but it's only for one specific loop, but you're right there's no full hook-ups. The rest of the sites in the park are first come.

TrippleJS, One more note. As a kid, before the lake, the swimming area was located at what is now the "nature center". The "nature center" was the bathhouse at the time. One can still see the concrete pier where the diving board was located. Well, as a kid, to prove one was a "man" one had to swim the river, climb the cliff across the river and return. Thinking back, I think, "Just how stupid kids are." How did we survive?

I will check in on the reservation deal, thanks for the info.

One other note, My name "Shorty Cox" comes from a hollow located near Beaver's Bend. "Shorty Cox Hollow".

Ive always wondered what that concrete pier was for! There no swimming in that part of the river anymore. Something to do with the currents caused by the dam. The reservable loop is right beside the nature center/concrete pier. It's loop "B".
