We're heading that way with our X23b early July. Staying at Custer State Park. Anyone out there have any recomendations for what there is to see and do aside from Mt Rushmore?? We'll have 7 and 13yr olds with.
Can't wait for camping season!

I, too, am planning a trip to that area in late spring, and (although I have nothing against bikers) would like to avoid the crowds. What week is the rally, so I can plan accordingly?

Brdbrain2day, I've been told The Badlands are a must see. I plan on making them and Little Bighorn Memorial part of my trip.

The Rally is the first week of August.

Drive carefully and don't tailgate motorcycles. It will be busy this year but you shouldn't have any problems.

PS. Only the beer trucks have the "Right of Way" during the rally. Everyone else sits in traffic.

Been to the Rally several times as the bass player for a band. If I was planning a trip I would plan to miss the Rally dates adding a few days either side of the rally. Bikers are good people but to many good people in one place is not my idea of having fun.

This rally will set an attendance record . They are expecting over 1,000,000 people . The biggest one prior was in 2000 when over 750,000 people attended . The whole state has a population of near 700,000. Add one million people , it will be a zoo. Looking forward to it.

Just made reservations at Custer Gulch for bike week. They had a few sites left. Should be a good time.
