Camp Hatteras and RV Resort, Outer Banks, NC

We are going to stay at this campground for the first time in a couple of weeks and I wanted to know if anyone else has stayed there. We've stayed in the Outer Banks before, but haven't camped there. Please let me know if you liked it.

Thanks

I am not sure about this campground whatsoever, but we are going down there also mid august and staying at the KOA in Hatteras and just dealing with the people that work there has been nothing but pleasant and we are trying to go with entire family so 5 different reservations and changes have been made twice and they still are pleasant as can be....we are so looking forward to doing this vacation...we have never been to Outer Banks,I have 2 grand children that is why I chose this campground............

We had a large group down there last year. Do to poor "late" planning we had to split with some at camp hat. And some at koa next door. We all had a great time at both. Daily visits just south 4x4 access to the beach with cookouts, surf fishing and swimming. Fun fun. Enjoy.

oooohhh...keep us updated how your trip goes and hopefully some pics. We're looking to make a long weekend up to that area maybe this fall or next spring but havent really found a camping destination there.

We stayed there. It was part of a reciprocal campground agreement for $10 per night (we are one of those membership people). We really liked the cg. We stayed on the sound side. It was windy when we were there in late spring. We had fun in the local area. Sorry, I am on limited time, but PM me and I can let you know more (traveling right now).

If otherwise you are looking for an OK, I would say yes! Also, check campgroundreviews.com for additional info. I reviewed that park (I used a different moniker for that though )

Happy travels

I cannot tell you about the campgrounds. As a kid we were out there almost every other weekend. We lived in Havelock NC. It is always windy, so keep your awning in even if you’re going to be gone for just a couple minutes. If you are thinking about taking the Ferries, make reservations, especially if you have a trailer. Check to see if there are any limitations on trailer sizes.

Have a great time; we are tentatively planning a Hatteras trip in 2014.

We were in N.C. about 2 weeks ago visiting my oldest son. We went to the OB's and to the Hatteras light house. It was a nice trip but hot and humid on the beach with the wind blowing. The water was warm though.

Hi Everyone,

We just got back from Camp Hatteras campground in the Outer Banks and had a great time. It was our maiden voyage in our new 2012 19H with our Honda Pilot and it went really well. It was so much easier setting up etc. than our pup. We were about 500 feet from the beach and it was great. The campground was a little expensive, but the location was great in Rodanthe beach. It was out on the cape nice and quiet, but there was still plenty of places to eat etc.

We had some creaking with our hitch, but other than that a great trip. No pictures yet, I'm not that quick with the digital pictures yet.

We have a power awning so we would have it out sometimes for shade, but when we left or it got too windy we took it back in.
