Campgrounds near Assateague State Park? Trap Pond State park???

We are again camping at Assateague this coming July. We would like to extend our trip to a nearby campground. Does anyone have a recommendation for another campground? In searching, I have found Trap Pond in Laurel, DE and find it interesting. Does not have to be a state park but we prefer a quieter campground with active recreation- biking etc. We enjoy a spacious, private site. Can't stand to be on top of our neighbors. We do have 3 kids as well so family friendly is a requirement. I love the many posts and experienced campers on this forum! Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Pocomoke River SP is one consideration. The Shad Landing loops I`m guessing are about 35 miles from Assateague SP in Maryland, a bit closer to Chincoteague and the Va. portion of Assateague Island. Pool, neat river to explore, boat/canoe rentals, nice roomy shaded sites available, activities for kids at nature center, one pet friendly loop. Have not been to Trap pond yet.

We went to Trap Pond last Oct. Nice campground, clean bathrooms, bald cypress swamp is really interesting, nature center is small but well run, good hiking trails, campsites are spacious and easy to get in and out of. We thought that this campground was one of those hidden gems. Would definitely go back.
