Tim,
So many members of this forum use RV Park Reviews that the site is almost an extension to the forum.
Many of us use the same nickname on both sites. I've never camped around Carlsbad but I hope to next year, so after you visit be sure to post your review.

About 6 years ago we stayed at Brantley state park. Not a bad place to stay. It does have some full hookups.

Carlsbad KOA is very nice. Huge sites, beautiful bathrooms, nice grounds to stroll, near caverns.

the campground right on the entrance to Carlsbad Caverns is an unattractive looking dusty parking lot.White's City.. While there is a Rodeway there the whole area had the appearance of a ghost town. May 2016
We stayed at Carlsbad KOA and it was pleasant albeit a bit of a drive to the Caverns.
I would say quiet but there were threats of hail with thunderstorms and the area is in a pecan grove. They shoot acetylene cannons off to break up the hail before it can damage the tree. Not awfully noisy but the feeling of camping in a shooting range.

Stay any where but White City, the White city store was interesting, and has Ice Cream!

Have to say there weren't any CG's that looked good in that area. Economy must be bad if not into oil otherwise it would be jumping with the caverns attraction.

Glad I caught this thread.
We're planning to travel that way next week.
I think we'll pass by White's City and set up at Guadalupe Mountains NP instead.
Thanks.

I'm in the same boat. I'm headed out there mid March and booked KOA as a lesser of all evils, but may look into the NP mentioned.

We stayed in Whites City when I was a kid and visited the cave. I will never forget swimming in the pool at night and having the bats fly very close to us in the water!
