Central/Eastern PA, MD, Southern Catskills?

We live in South Jersey and are looking for weekend destinations within a 3-4 hr drive from us (outside Phila, PA). We prefer mountains with hiking trails. Our kids love the trails where you scramble/climb over rocks, roots, etc. We have been to Hickory Run SP and Ricketts Glen SP in PA in our old popup. We now will have a 33' TT so need a cg that can accommodate that size. Any suggestions on mountain destinations and campgrounds in Maryland, Central/Eastern PA, and even southern Catskills?

Thx!
Adina

we are heading to eastern PA this saturday for a week in PA. staying just north of Scranton and branching out from there to do some day tripping around the area. at least 1 day at the Steam Train National Park and hoping to do the coal mine tour another day. we have not been to PA in over ten years and it is only about 2-1/2 hours away.on the way in we'll be stopping at the welcome center to get more ideas.

If you have a smart phone you can download the Good Sam club app. There you can find campgrounds with ratings and lots of info

The Woodall's campground guide on line or book is also a great resource. Woodall's and Good Sam have joined so you get the best of both

My wife and I love to mountain bike on those same rugged trails. A few of our PA destinations are:

Lackawanna SP (north of Scranton, PA)
French Creek SP (Reading area, PA) -- see Class A sized rigs there. Lots of trails with rocks!
Raystown Lake (near State College, PA) -- not so many rocks, but has a ton of trails.
Caledonia State Park (near Gettysburg, PA) - nice trails in Caledonia, but it also borders the very rugged Michaux State Forest

Although not good for mountain biking, Promised Land SP in PA would be good for rugged hiking, too.

Try Cowans Gap State Park located between McConnellsburg, PA (US-30) and PA Turnpike exit 189, Willow Hill (if traveling westbound)/exit 180, Fort Littleton (if traveling eastbound). There are 11 miles of hiking trails in the park that vary from easy/flat to extremely difficult/steep.

The park is nestled in a pretty mountain setting and everything (lake, swimming, concession stand, boat rentals) is in walking distance. I've camped there a number of times with my 28' TT. Your 33' should be no problem.

Thanks for all the PA suggestions!! Anyone have any suggestions for southern NY? We've been on the NY state parks websites, but it's very overwhelming with all the choices.
Thx!!
