From Erie/Edinboro area. I would say Sparrow Pond just outside of Erie. There's an Erie KOA but they r very pricey and Sara's at Presque Isle is very very cramped. Sparrow Pond will give you more room and you can still get to many attractions very easily in a short amount of time.

Here's the link to Sparrow Pond's website.

Sparrow Pond Family Campground & Recreation Center

You might also want to look at Virginia's Beach. It's located west of Erie and is on the lake.

Virginia's Beach Campground

For more possibilities, Check out the PA Campground Owner's website. It's a good reference for finding a private campground anywhere in Pennsylvania

Presque Isle Passage is just north of exit 18 on Route 632, which conveniently leads to Presque Isle. Be sure to drive down town to see the Flagship Niagara and take a drive around Presque Isle State Park. There are miles of fresh water beaches, trails, boat rentals, walking path, picnicing and other activities. Waldameer is a great family park. Admission is free, you have to pay if you want to go on the rides or water slides. Stop at Sara's at the entrance to Presque Isle for a Smith's hot dog and an orange vanilla twist cone. Fishing in Lake Erie is superb, lots of charters available in the area. There is also a tour boat on Presque Isle that will take you on a tour of the bay and lake for a nominal fee.
