Both are run by NYS Parks, Recreation & Historic Places.
A close third would be a relatively new NYS DEC Campground, Schroon Manor, on Schroon Lake.
We also love Letchworth State park for the magnificent views. We went this year, 3 years from the last visit, and the its like seeing it for the first time. At 17 miles long expect a lot of driving or biking or hiking to see all the sites
