Great Lakes Trip

We just took the family on a camping tour of the Great Lakes. The DW did a great job with her blog summarizing the whole thing. Check it out. Nothing to read...all pics

Enjoy...http://thatshowwerollwithbananapants...tour-2014.html

Great family pics......, especially the western UP pics (enjoy camping in the UP).

If you get a chance, identify the campgrounds you stayed at during your trip in this thread, along with your thoughts on them...., I'm sure folks would be interested.

Thanks in advance.

Bob

Thumbs up

What a great trip! And what memories for your family. In a few short weeks the children will be back in school, and they'll have some "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" report to tell. How many of their classmates will be able to say "I got wet in all 5 of the Great Lakes"?

Thanks for the report and all the great pics.

Thanks for the outstanding report and pictures. What fun!

I grew up in Michigan and many of the photos brought back terrific memories... the Soo Locks, Mackinac Bridge... We need to take our kids on that trip!

Looks like a great vacation. Im glad to see families out camping and seeing America. As a resident of Michigan I feel lucky to spend most of my time camping in this area. Looks like you saw many of our great sights. Beautiful trailer and I'm glad to hear you guys had great weather!

Campgrounds we visited on this trip:
  • KOA in London, Ontario -**2.5/5 stars (It was a quick overnight stay, so this place was perfect for that, but there is nothing there. We did get to check the box that we camped in Canada, however)
  • Petoskey KOA in Petoskey, Mi - 5/5 stars (really great place, so well maintained and well run, sites and grounds were perfect...we cancelled another place that we were headed to to stay here 2 extra nights. Great for kids and a staging point to go a lot of places. We went to Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and the Soo Locks from here)
  • Higgins Lake KOA in Roscommon,Mi - 3.5/5 stars (great stuff for the kids to do, but our site was quite small. It was packed for the 4th holiday, but there was a good vibe.)
  • East Harbor State Park- Marblehead, Ohio - 4.5/5 stars (this place is beautiful and right on Lake Erie, the last of the 5 Great Lakes for us. CG was very well maintained and sites were nice. They have a nice beach in the state park too, the kids loved it. Also, nearby was a small water park...I took the kids there for a few hours one day and i was a hero.)
  • Grandma and Grandpas Ironwood, Mi - - 5/5 stars (FAMILY)
