Halloween Time!!

It's just around the corner and was wonderin' how many of you have camped at campgrounds where they have a Halloween Theme? :Pumpkin:

Where I live, in Southern Indiana, we have 2 nearby campgrounds that do this. One is a state park Lincoln State Park, and the other is Lake Rudolph at Holiday World. The nice thing is that these 2 CG are just about 10 miles apart from each other.

The state park's Halloween is put on by both the employees as well as individuals and volunteers. They have pumpkin painting, crafts, hay rides and games. The nice thing is the local high school has voluteers head the various activities and any funds generated go to the different clubs at the school. Campers also decorate their site with the Halloween theme. It amazes me to see the lengths people go to!

Lake Rudolph is a private CG and also has a lot of activities as well as a contest to see who decorates their camp-site the best, or scariest!

The Halloween Camping is usually held over 2 week-ends and is so popular, you have to make reservations almost a year in advance.

sounds like fun, surprised that other cg's have not picked up on the idea. not a real popular camping time, and I am sure that it brings in campers that might not come other wise.

Tyler State Park, Texas, has a Holloween Theme.

All the RVs have decorations out and try to out do each other.

We camp at Holiday Trav-l in Emerald Isle, NC for their Hallowscream weekend. All sites are the same price and all extras (cable and extra people and tents) are included. Loads of activities, cooking/baking contest, best costume contest, best camper decorations, pumpkin carving contest, haunted house and trick or treating. It's loads of fun! The campground usually sells out. Also, they start taking reservations for the next season that weekend.

My wife saw pictures of one cg on the eastern shore during Halloween. She wants to go. Don't think we will make it this year.

Its either Cherrystone CG or Tall Pines Harbor CG that do the Halloween weekends here.. We`ve been to both for their Halloween weekend over the years. They book up pretty early. Also camped at Kiptopeke SP one time on Halloween night and those staying in the park kinda created thier own little theme weekend which was nice too.

We really go nuts for Halloween (even before we had kids), so now that we have the means to go fall camping, I am all up in this idea! This year, we'll be picking up our new lab pup the weekend before Halloween and will probably be puppy proofing etc the weekend before, so maybe next year. We are going to a private cg for Columbus Day weekend, where there is a fall festival and fireworks to end the season, so that will probably be our last trip out for the year.

Cherrystone sounds right. I travel the eastern shore every two weeks, I will have to make detour and check it out.

William O’Brein State Park puts on “Falloween”. We accidentally ran across it last year, it was a great time.

Our local Hueston Woods S.P. in Southwest Ohio does one. People really get into the fun and decorate their sites & TT's.

My local SP, RB Winter SP, PA, has a Halloween weekend. This year I will be camping on my own property. I will have my purple and orange lights out, but I don't know if anyone will be out trickier-treating.

Loyd park, at Joe Pool Lake in Grand prairie Texas has one, the two weekends before Halloween. This will be my second year to attend & everyone that camps those two weeks are asked to decorate their site. The park has hay rides through out the park and all the campers hand out candy to the cars that drive through the park. In fact I have been working on my props for about the last three week ends getting ready for the big event... I think the adults have as much fun as the kiddos do

We go to Potato Creek SP, IN for Halloween weekend. One guy gets 3 sites every year for his massive display. He has a complete haunted walk through with a dude in an electric chair, chainsaws, zombies, etc.

I had no idea until last year how popular Halloween camping had become! We were at Land Between the Lakes in Tennessee and could not figure out why it was so packed that late...then all these decorations and haunted houses started popping up...and wow...it was crazy! Pumpkin painting...costume contest...hay rides...haunted houses...trick-o-treat time...and wow..they dont give out the junk candy! It was the full size bars! Not having costumes we improvised with a couple of trash bags and some junk around the camper and we had instant "hippie kids"!

We just got back from Wall Doxie in Mississippi and discovered they have a big one as well. Every site is booked a year in advance.....I see doing it again in our future!

Indian cave state park in Nebraska is the best but it's hard to get a spot in the fall. But it is worth it.

We go each year to Woodland Hills campground in Austerlitz, NY... near the beginning of the Mass Turnpike (Western MA) and about 40 mins east of Albany, NY....they have one Halloween weekend and the kids love it, its normally in August. They have site decoration contests too. http://www.whcg.net We love this campground because its about 40 mins from our house and if you book early enough you can get right on the little lake and the kids can catch frogs and the big kids can catch some huge bass...sites have electric and water and there is a dumpstation
