Traverse City, Michigan

The Mt. Rushmore KOA was very nice. Big store and nice sites. Pretty view looking up through the campground to the Black Hills. DO NOT follow your GPS, it will take you in a back dirt service road. Get directions off their website. Easy drive to Mt. Rushmore.

As I remember, the Niagra Falls KOA was pretty plain jane. But I don't recall anything really negative.

I have styed at both the Livingson ( Paradise Valely) KOA and the West Yellowstoen KOA both were great, clean , good WI-FI. I had a tent camper at the time and the bear patrool at the West Yellowstone at night was most helpfull.

The Paradise Valley one is ON the yellowstone river. 50 feet from bed to fishing...

Great breafast, hot clean showers and bath rooms at both.

Now that we have moved up woudl enjoy it even more..

We stayed at the Suagerties NY KOA a few weeks ago. Very nice, clean and very friendly staff. Pull through sites were a bit close, but the back in's were extremely roomy. Fishing pond didn't seem like much, but my boys ended up getting a ton of fish, including a nice catfish. So to them, it was the best cammpground they have ever been to!(Happy kids = happy parents!). Completely wooded and private, even had a frisbie golf course through the woods!

stayed at the watkins glen one recently - really liked it - nice owners many different types of sites to choose from....loved the hiking trail for our dogs -- thought it'd be short and a straight path but they really made it interesting.....
definitely recommend...a bit pricey though as it was a Nascar weekend - (we didn't know...)

One of the MOST BEAUTIFUL KOA's we've been to is the Yellowstone West KOA in Montana. FANTASTIC facility in a BEAUTIFUL part of the world. We've been to SEVERAL - some good (mostly CO, WY, and NM), some not so good (Estes Park, CO - rack 'em, pack 'em, and stack 'em, TOO SMALL!). TYPICALLY you can't go wrong with a KOA - you know what you're going to get!!

By far our favorite campground yet is Monroe County KOA - it's in Michigan just north of the Ohio border along US-23.
Large swimming pond with beach all the way around, big water slide, fishing pond, bike and boat rentals, mini-golf (kinda lame but free), giant outdoor chess set, big playgrounds for big kids and one for little kids, ball fields, even a fenced in playground just for pets. We stay there for a week every summer, there is so much for the kids to do they are busy all day with the different activities. And on rainy days, it's only a few minutes away from Cabela's, the kids always love that too.
We've looked at a lot of KOAs, but that's our favorite one by a mile.

We stayed at this location this past weekend. It is just east of Chicago in northern IN. It was a great place-clean, staff friendly, lots for kids to do. We plan on going back. Kathy

Hi, we are Chris and Bev from Granbury, Texas. We have stayed at many KOA Campgrounds but our favorite two are: (1) South Padre Island, TX. We have been several times. Spent a month last Feb. during the cold weather. It was great. The sites are a little small, but everythings else was great. The park is clean and personal very friendly and helpful. We are going again this coming (Feb. 2012). Really looking foward to it !!! (2) Another KOA is in Durant,OK. It is the Choctaw Casino RV Park. It is fairly new and extremely clean. The sites are large and club house and faucilities very clean and comfortable. If in these area's you will enjoy these parks. (Stay Safe and Enjoy Your Travels)

We stayed at a number of KOAs over the past 3 years. Caddo Mills/NE Dallas TX (average +), Cibolo NM (Excellent, especially for being in an old lava field), Flagstaff AZ (really nice, though crowded during season), Meridian/Toomsuba MS (woodsy, average), Lake Corpus Christi TX (average, but needs work), San Antonio TX (GREAT PLACE). We'll keep on with KOAs as they are usually pretty good.

Wade KOA near Fayetteville NC is an excellent CG... along with Starke KOA in Florida... both are well maintained and have friendly competent staff.

There are two in the Charleston, SC area. I have stayed in both and they are both well run.

Stayed at the wytheville VA KOA. It is a great area for outdoor activities with rails to trails, (which was very nice along the river) etc.
Campgound was clean etc but had a strange RV set up. I suppose to save money they only had one hook up per two sites so each two campers were facing each other so instead of all the usual campers in one row all facing the same direction so your front door faces your neighbors back door you face the front of your neighbor. The sites were small and you were very close to your neighbor as well. there were several campers that were facing each other and their awning were overlaping each other.

This past summer we stayed at Herkeimer, NY KOA (diamond mine). The staff is very helpful and pleasent to deal with (3 gen of family running it). We stayed at a premium river site which had a pad and everything you need. Spots are tight and narrow. Nothing but the river behind you which you can tube down. Nothing is paved so very dusty conditions, but grounds are kept up. Pool was clean but small for the size campground, though the river option was one that kept the crowd at bay.Playground was good for kids. Activities are fair but well run when they do have something. We did a 3 day weekend which was enough for me. Personally I don't like being right on top of my neighbor unless a group, for a long period.
Pull throughs were a little bit bigger and had more grass around the campsite for spreading out.

Went on a 3,500 14 day trip and stayed at KOA all the time. Ended up staying at 6 different KOA CGs.
Best thing about KOA is you always know what you are getting. Although each CG is a little different their basic services are the same. Some are better than others but had a good expereince at each one.
We plan our travels & stops by KOA locations. Just wish there was more of them in the north west.
Don't plan to stay at any other CG in the future.

Ditto to this. They are not all created equal. There is a much nicer campground across the street from the KOA near the beach we frequent. The KOA there is just kind of run down, no pavement at the sites whereas across the street they always upgrade. But I think you just have to look around as some are much better than others.

Stay away from the one in Willmington NC. Its a dump and way over priced. I was there a few years ago and vowed to never stay at a KOA again if this was a sample of their properties.

The Astoria KOA in Oregon would have to get our vote for best KOA. The nearby ocean, Cannon Beach, quaint seaside villages and of course the town of Astoria all just add up to making this already great camping spot an excellent destination

we must say though that most KOA's we have been too are great. another favorite is Palmer Gultch in South Dakota near Mount Rushmore!
