Lake McConaughy recommendations

We are considering camping at Lake McConaughy this summer and would like some input, regarding both camping spots and the lake, from those who have been there. Regarding camping spots, we need 50 amp electric service, full hookups would be nice, but not necessary. Would you recommend staying in one of the state park campgrounds or a private campground, and what campground specifically? Regarding the lake, how is the water? I realize this is a very subjective question, but what is your opinion of it for water sports? How clean is the water, is it pretty cold or fairly warm, does it have a lot of weeds, etc.? Thank you in advance for your responses.
