Lake Powhatan Recreation Area

We are currently staying at the Lake Powhatan Recreation Area just outside of Asheville NC in the Blue Ridge Mtns. It is part of the National Park Service (Happy 100th) and operated by the Cradle of Forestry which does a great job running several facilities in the southeast.
It has 4 loops with private wooded sites, a small lake and beach, 40 miles of hiking and biking trails.
It is located at milepost 393 on the Blue Ridge Parkway and adjacent to the NC Arboretum which is a MUST SEE if in the area.

We are local to the area and go there and Davidson River for short 2-3 day weekend trips.
Love the fishing and hiking at both.
Only about 30 minutes from my house, but feels like 1000 miles...

Looking at the website, they do not have but 5 full hookup sites and only a half dozen or so with water/ electric.

Most are primitive so plan way ahead if you need them.

The lakeside loop has most with full hookups. Should be 10-12 sites or so.

They have 19 full hookup sites and 5 with Elec only

We like it and are going to try and make a reservation soon for next year.
