Must See and Do in Vermont and Maine

We're a family with 4 kids under 13, and we're looking for places to camp and things to do this summer , as we drive through Vermont and Maine...for those who've been, what do you recommend doing?

In Vermont I would thing about visiting a Ski resort like maybe Killington and letting the kids ride the ski lift and then hike the top of the mountain. I spent my summers in Vermont and we would love to do this. Some may have alpine slides also. Queche Gorge and the little village of Weston is a nice place to visit.
In Maine our favorite towns are Camden and Bar Harbor (Acadia National Park). Thak a Puffin and Whale Watch tour. If you like amusement park activities, visit Old Orchard Beach. When we are in the area we stay at Bayleys RV Resort, which has many fun activities for the kids and trolly service to Pine Point and Old Orchard.
If you like Moose, head up to Moosehead Lake region. very rustic. The Sebago Lake region has many campgrounds, so if you prefer lakes over ocean, this may be an option. We spend a weekend in Naples, Maine where the campground had a hay ride. The kids got in the wagon behind a tractor and the kids were given super soakers to shoot at the campers as they drove past. The joke was on them, because we were all warned and given the time when they would pass our site. Thus we were all ready with our hoses! Those kid got really SUPER soaked! Seeing all the sites spraying the kids was a hoot. Everyone had a good time. That campground had really good water pressure!

Ben and Jerry's factory is a must and also the Vermont teddy bear factory. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/ is a must for finding the weird and unusual and we use it to plan our trips.

Acadia area is truly amazing!! WOW, is all I have to say!! We went in August, but rented a house on the water in Trenton. We didn't have a TT yet, but we decided if we ever went back, we'd rent again because it is a good 24-hr drive from our Southwest Ohio town & probably a bit longer with a TT. It's an outdoor lovers paradise & I didn't feel it was touristy or pricey. If you do decide to take the whale tour, take extra Dramamine!! I was one of the lucky ones that overdosed on it & still felt queasy!! It was a long 3 hr tour!

So where have you stayed with your RV near Bar Harbor? Trying to pick a place...

When my family went to Maine we visited Freeport - a lot of outlets there and LL Beans retail store. We found a nice sandy beach but I don't recall the name of it at the moment, it may have been Orchard beach. We also went to Rockland, Maine which had a Maine Lobster Festival at the end of July or the beginning of August. It was a small town fair type festival with cheap soft shell lobster. I would like to return to Maine this summer and go farther up to Bar Harbor and maybe Moosehead Lake. Any place you go in the Vermont/Maine you can find something interesting.

When I read the title of this thread I jumped right in here to say just this. Great place. While there check out the local cemetery to see some amazing works.

Old Orchard beach is about 30-35 miles south of Freeport in Sace, ME. It's not far from Portland, which is neat little city with lots to do also. Take a cruise around Casco Bay.
