North East campgrounds

Well looking for a Nice jelly stone in the north east area. I live near Albany, NY. I am open to other recommendations. I would like to travel 5 to 6 hours most. It would be for 10 days so would like a nice campground / resort. Thank you

This would probably be close (if not over) to your maximum driving time limit, but there's a Yogi Bear Resort in Mill Run, PA (http://www.jellystonemillrun.com/) in the Southwestern part of the state. For reference, it's north of Ohiopyle State Park on PA-381. I've never camped there, but why would I because I only live about 14 miles away. Maybe someone will chime in who's camped there and can relate their experience.

You don't say what things you like to do when you camp which would be helpful to get you suggestions that would be a better "fit".

Good luck in your search!

Normandy Farms is on my list, but not a Jellystone. Also check out the Boston RV show (this weekend) website as there are several listed for vendors that might peak your interest in the Mountains east of you.

I am headed through Shenandoah this year and hitting that one for a few days. Swore I would not do it after PA, but kids are pushing me and I am happy with this ones layout. Lots to do close by and easy run from where you are, but over you hour limit by a few hours.
Another one closer is Hagerstown in Williamsport, MD which I have heard good things about on this forum and would try myself for a few days.

Not really the north east, but more a radius. Maine is nice if you want waterfront. Cape cod too, but crowded and tough to get prime sites.

OP, seriously look at The Mountain Vista CG in East Stroudsburg, PA
Woodall's gave it a 5 out of 5. I stayed there for 7 days with 3 kids and the park is very wooded, nice grounds with activities and a pool. A boat load of attractions most of within 30 mins. Here's their link and there is a video on there website as well. http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LEV...ed.FS4DnecI9s-

I have several friends that speak very highly of this campground. Knoebels has 2 campgrounds. The one to stay is a few minute ride away. Really nice old school amusement par. You can catch that off 81 in pa

There are quite a few Jellystones in the Northeast. It all depends on what you and your family like to do when camping.

We spend quite a bit of time at a Jellystone in Gardiner NY (1 hours south of Albany) http://lazyriverny.com/ It's a great place for a long weekend, but right now I wouldn't want to spend 10 days. I say right now, because this CG was just sold and will undergo a major transformation into a destination CG over the next year. The new owners purchased the CG plus quite a few properties surrounding it making it about a 100 acre CG. This is a serious investment. The new owners have other first-class Jellystone destination CGs in their portfolio.

Another destination Jellystone is in Quarryville PA about 4-1/2 to 5 hours from Albany. http://www.jellystonepa.com/

Just for fun, I had Google give me directions from Albany, NY to the Jellystone at Mill Run, PA. It would be an all day drive. Google provided two routes to get there of either 460 miles taking 7 hr. 16 min. or 465 miles taking 7 hr. 28 min. Of course, it's going to take longer with an RV plus the time for any stops made along the way.

Yes we also like Gardner Jellystone been going since 2007 for long weekends there, nice campgroound. I did not know it was sold however. Will have to check some campgrounds mentioned. We have the Quarryvile Pa, Jellystone booked but reading mixed reviews on it. We also like Copake KOA in NY, nice clean place. I have a five year old so we need things to do. We are open to anything as long as we are having fun. I like also hanging around the campground and doing there stuff. Always looking for new campgrounds does not have to be a jellystone.

I dont live far from gardiner JS, like 40 minutes. It was the first campground my wife and I took our new trailer to in 2007. they had told us it had flooded during the winter trailers were wrecked and debri everywhere they cleaned it up good. Still loved it there, I like watching the sky divers.

The Jellystone in Gardiner NY flooded badly during Hurricane Irene in August 2011, with about 5-6 feet of water throughout the campground. They lost 15 trailers with a lot of damage to the CG. It took a few weeks to get thing back to normal.

In August 2013, we were there when severe storms came through the area. There were two dams upstream on the Wallkill River that had to be released at the same time, resulting in the CG flooding again. It was amazing to see everyone pitching in to get about 20 trailers off the river, strangers coming together to help other campers.

My wife took this picture as we were pulling trailers off the river sites.

We have stayed at the one in East Wareham, Ma which is located near Cape Cod before the bridges. Not sure if it is a Yogi Bear franchise anymore though.
