Just an FYI for anyone coming to western NC for the eclipse please make plans asap. We live 30 minutes from Clingmans Dome in Cherokee. Hotels and campgrounds have been booked for months in some instances.

I'm afraid we're hunting a unicorn, but I'll ask anyways.
We're looking for a campground that is heavily wooded, spaced nicely and has the option of backing up to a stream/creek (trout stream if I'm really dreaming  ).
More of a state park kind of setting in North GA/West NC. I could care less if the trees aren't trimmed, if the roads are narrow and winding, if they charge for firewood, if they have cell service and wi-fi. As long as they have at least 30 amp electrical, functioning bath house, preferably site water and a dump station we're good.
I just learned about Enota, which "almost" fits the bill, other than the proximity of campsites to each other. Otherwise it would be our dream campground. Cloudland fits every category except the back up to a creek part.
Most of the "compliants" or "cons" I read on the RVpark Reviews are actually positives for us. We aren't "resort" campers typically. It can be fun in moderation, but we prefer to be in the middle of nowhere if given the choice. I actually prefer gravel, back-in sites. Now level sites are always welcome.

A couple years ago we stayed at Unicoi state park. We were hiking the Appalachian trail and stayed one night before we started our hike. I have no idea if they can accommodate an RV of your size, but I will say it seemed like it would be a nice area to camp.

Second for Unicoi, in fact we are staying there for July 4th weekend. Seems I remember a 40ft limit when I made reservations but it's been awhile.

Read my post near the start of this thread on Enota. I also have a long review on RV Park Reviews.
I wouldn't call the 'creek' you back up to a trout stream - you can step across it without getting your feet wet unless it just rained.

I haven't stayed at Don Carter because it's about 10 minutes from my place on Lake Lanier. Somehow "Camping" right down the road from my lake cabin just doesn't make sense :-) it feels like camping in my front yard.
But we did drive through it. It's OK - obviously all the facilities are new and the sites are nice. It's worth a try.

We have stayed at River Bend in Hiawassee , Ga for several years. Nice location for site seeing.

Bald Mountain in Hiawassee, GA is a nice place. Big sites, pool, fishing ponds, but the bath houses are kind of far away from the nice spots. Its my go to spot for weekend camping. You can see Brasstown Bald from the GC.

Duckett Mill COE on Lake Lanier is a beautiful campground plenty of spots many on the lake front. Not a stream but still very nice.
We were there for 3 days last year wish we could have stayed for weeks.
It is on our list of places to stay longer once i retire next year.
Also we drove thru Vogel State Park it looked very nice and will try it in the future also.
