OBX Trip advice

Currently planning a 50th birthday surprise trip for my DW and a pre 60th for me (yeah I kind of robbed the cradle) to the Outer Banks next July.

Pretty much have it narrowed down to the KOA or Camp Hatteras. Any thoughts on either / both or other places to look into? Her family doesn't like dry camping like I do so I need full hook ups.

Thanks in advance!

I know both of those campgrounds well- they sit beside each other. Rodanthe is not the best looking areas in OBX but we enjoy it since it's more on the quiet less busy part of OBX. As far as the KOA- very friendly staff. This facility is owned by KOA corporate so it has all the perks of what a KOA campground has. The camp store is well stocked, has a small independent restaurant inside called Shielas, food is very good and reasonable. Grounds are well kept, pool is fantastic, Beach is walking distance- literally backs up to the dunes. They own property and fishing pier out on the sound which has the most incredible sunsets you will ever see on the east coast.
The Hatteras Campground is well kept, spacious. It lacks some of the amenities of the KOA but if it's booked, I would stay there.

We don't mind not having the nicer things I suppose. We will be at Cape Point Campground July 23-28.
