Ohio State Park Campgrounds

There is a lot of improvements being made and its very exciting to see! We typically only stay at State Parks whoever we go. Michigan has some really nice state park camp grounds and I am hoping with all the improvements that Ohio is finally doing we can get our parks up to our northern friends standards!

Hi bfurry, where are you at in Ohio? I'm in north east. We camp in a number of state parks. All ready have reservations at Pymatuning, Indian Lake, Findley, Harrison Lake and Mohican.

We are going to be making the trip down to Hocking Hills this summer and who knows maybe a few more in the year to come.

Ohio State Park Campgrounds

Hocking Hills is an awesome area. We camped there last year and had a great time hiking the trails. Don't forget to stop by the lodge, excellent smoked brisket.

I live within a mile of Alum Creek Ohio State Park, this winter they added water & sewer to about a dozen sites, Paving all the roads, and just great over all improvements. I am sure it will be hard to get one of the full hook up sites, but all the sites are nice in this park, even without full hookups, just electric.

Can't wait for camping season to start.

Stayed at Alum creek last year, definitely would do again.

It would be interesting to have a Jayco Forum Rally in Ohio.

We are from Johnstown Ohio which is just north east of Columbus. Harrison Lake in my opinion is hands down the cleanest SP I have ever been to. We love that CG! We have not made it to Pymatuning but have visited all the rest on your list regularly! I really want to get down to Shawnee this year and so far we are booked for Salt Fork, and Hocking Hills. I really love our SP system and every year we try a new one we have never visited. This year the plan is to stay at Shawnee and Barkcamp as we have yet to stay at either. Have fun camping I know our family loves it!

I am a wagon master on another website and host the Ohio Fall rally. It's always at Indian Lake State Park, this year it will be Sept 30-Oct 2, which is a bit later than usual due to an event going on at the campground the prior weekend. Usually we have about 10 sites, Friday night we do a welcome and Saturday a potluck dinner. Nothing formal, just a relaxing weekend. If anyone is interested I can send you details.

This will be our first time camping there. We are having a Spring rally in May, I believe we have 8 campsites booked. Totally looking forward to it!

The warm weekend we just had really made me want to get the camper out. Is winter over yet?

We do Ohio State Parks almost all the time. Glad to see some improvements coming. We were at Alum Creek over Thanksgiving and saw they were adding full service sites.

We finally made our trip to Hocking Hills this past week and I have to say I am very impressed with the Ohio State Park system. All of the parks we visited were clean, well maintained, very well signed and a pleasure to be at. We are definitely going to be looking at more Ohio State parks and planning another trip back to Hocking Hills.

Another great thing is that there are several Ohio state parks open year-round...we stayed at one in mid-March on our way home from Texas - Maumee State Park outside of Toledo. I think that Salt Fork is open year-round as well...

We passed thru Ohio a few years back and stayed in some state parks. We were happy to find that they were Passport America parks and we got a nice discount.
