Passport America

Does anyone use this or is it a ripoff?

I have been a member for the past 8 years. Yes, I definitely say it is worth it. You should be aware the most of the campgrounds that participate in Passport America are the one and two star category. Don't expect KOA type grounds. There are some higher quality but that is not the typical. But if you are looking for one-night stays for traveling this works great.

We have been members for years. It works for us with just a few nites a year to pay for the membership. As noted mostly we use it for overnights or just a few nights on the way to a destination or home.

Each park has their own rules and limitations as to how many and which nites they give the discount.

Like others have said usually good cg for a over night. You will usually end up in the least desirable sites but for the discount its worth it.

We bought the lifetime membership for around 200$ . We have yet to use it due to the time limitations, lots of different block up dates but I am sure it will pay for itself in time.

I use it from time to time and have found it to be beneficial. Stayed for 5 nights out in Williams, AZ once for half price at a very nice CG and that one trip was more than worth the annual subscription. You can go online and see what CGs are available without paying anything. Check it out to see if any of them are in your traveling path. As others have said, each CG will have different regulations as to how you can claim the reduced rate.

If you ask sometimes they will give you the 50% off rate even for the restricted times. I have got it a couple of times just by asking. The CG was not full and I guess they weren't expecting a big rush either. I always ask...the most they can say is No.
