Petit Le Mans - Road Atlanta

The 2012 Petit Le Mans is this coming week - October 17-20. If any of you guys will be there look me up. I will be on the Skid Pad Site 13 and the coffee pot will be working. I also have plenty of room for another lawn chair during the race. Come join the fun.

Today is the day. As is usual for me on travel day I woke up very early. It is now 4:00am and I'm finishing my first cup. Everything is pretty well ready inside to pull in the slides and then all I have to do it empty the black and gray tanks and stow all hoses, etc. I filled the fresh water tank last night. My DirecTV dish will be coming down in a few. Then hook up and head to the track. It is about 250 miles so it won't be too bad a drive, except Atlanta is in the way. Oh well, such is life.

We had an uneventful trip yesterday. 250 miles and we are set up at Road Atlanta. Now for road racing where they make right turns also and run in the rain.

Oops! I need to work on the pictures. That will be done today.

I did just fill up my generator gas tank. 21.1 hours on the hobbs and 8 gallons total since arrival. It is cool here this week so no a/c, just battery charging (although not really needed), plenty of television for the grandchildren, and COFFEE. The Onan hasn't missed a stroke. I am using my Genturi for the first time. It doesn't help me much, but I'm sure my next door neighbor likes it.

More practice today and then the big race tomorrow, 10 hours or 1,000 miles whichever occurs first. It will be a great day. Night practice last night and that is really nice to watch.

I was on my way back to our site a few minutes ago from the bath house (we must leave the on board facilities to the ex and the grandchildren, right?) and saw a nice picture opportunity. My Designer is in the shadow of the large MH, but you can definitely see the exhaust coming out of the top of the Genturi. Home sweet home, until Sunday am anyway.

When I walked back in I saw a good use for my two small foot stools. These are my twin 4 1/2 year old grandchildren.

I'm jealous. I have been going to Road America for years for the ALMS race, and recently started going to Sebring for 12 Hours. I was supposed to head to Petit but couldn't get off work. Did you see Gunnar Jeannette in the Delta Wing get clipped during practice? I had an opportunity to meet him when he was driving for Core, he is a really cool guy.
