planning a trip near cocoa beach fl

I am trying to plan a trip near cocoa Fl for next Christmas break. Can anyone recommend any. I just read some reviews and called camelot but they say they are not really kid friendly. My 2 kids are 8 and 11 and would hate to have stay in a hotel or rent a condo. We want to be by the beach and plan a day at cape canaveral and fan boats in the area. I don't have to be in cocoa but like the area

Brevard County operates a park at Port Canaveral (Jetty Park). Very nice area and steps away from the beach. Right at the entrance to Port Canaveral, you can watch the cruise ships come and go. KSC not far away, and an easy trip to the Orlando area theme parks via SR 528. http://www.jettyparkbeachandcampground.com/camp_index

Thanks Thomasmnile, I looked at that one but ended up just booking manatee hammock. I hope I made a good choice. I really liked that one but my reason was based on a pool and manatee got outstanding reviews.

We have stayed there. It is on the water but not on the beach. Very convenient to everything in the area. The park is mostly snow birders that time of year.

That whole area has dried up for tourists since the space program went kaput.

I booked the manatee hammock to secure a site. It looks like a nice campground. We are still looking for something a little closer to the ocean, all other ideas are welcome. Id like to be between daytona and cocoa beach.

And you can watch launches from Cape Canaveral if any are scheduled.
