Rainy week-end

We too our middle grandson camping this weekend and what a great time it was. It rained all weekend from set up to break-down. I have never laugh so much at him playing in the rain and mud, climbing rock cliffs, to just jumping in a mud puddle. He is 7 years old and had to burn off a lot of energy.
We took him to Fort Richardson State Park in Jacksboro, Tx. what a great park this is, even with all the rain. We had 6+ inches of rain in two days, never hard just steady rain.

Well that's too bad about the rain, but it sounds like you still had a wonderful time with your grandson!

lol ... I can remember being in our tent-trailer on a rainy & muddy long weekend when the kids were 6months & under 2 years old....

We were late getting into the campground, so ended up at a site designed for a tent, not a trailer. The trailer was parked up top on the only level spot, but the actual camp-site was down a small but steep hill (that's where the fire-pit & table was). The kids were still in diapers & even though it was rainy, because it was warm that's pretty much all they wore. They loved sliding down that hill on their bums! We went through more 'muddy' diapers that weekend! At the end of each day they both got hosed down, but it was fun to watch...

Kids need to play in the mud - dig for worms - get dirty! That's what builds the memories!

Hey thanks for the reply guys. McMonk you are right they need to get out a have fun in the out doors not behind a computer screen.

I have no other recollection other than we were in Missouri (early 1990's) at one of our Resort Membership Alliance Campgrounds. We arrived after check-in, so just found a campsite on our own. It started to rain, realllllly rain, but we had traveled for about 9 hours straight and the kids just needed to move. There was one of these thingys where you went in undercover but could still fish. Kids headed straight for it. Some really nice guy hooked both kids up with a pole (they had no clue what to do). It rained around them, but they were covered and still could fish. This was a stop-over on a Calif -> NE route. In the morning, we went to our assigned spots and got the tent trailer ready to go. We hit the road heading NE at 6am. Even though we saw soooooo many neat things on that 6 week x-country West-NE route, one of the things the kids remember most was that reallllllly rainy day/night in Missouri when that guy helped them catch fish. God love memories! They say - it's not what happened, but how ya felt!!!!!! BTW thank God for those really nice guys that fish with lost little kids! Ya gotta luv memories!
