Route advice needed N.E. trip coming up

I will be going from Clinton, Md to Long Island, Ny with my 30 foot travel trailer in tow. Looking for the best route with least amount of traffic (that's a joke) & also tolls, which roads are illegal for Travel trailers, etc. Never drove through the NE corridor with a camper. I lived up there (NYC) for many years (30 years ago ) so I know what a FUBAR that place is. I'm concerned about the Baltimore tunnel area, & getting through NYC to the LIE.

Without going out of your way, going up Route 95. Yes, when you get anywhere near any of the big cities it is a royal PITA.

However, if you have time and are not in a hurry, take Route 15N, or 83 N to to 81 to 78E From there, not sure the best way to get to Long Island.

Anytime I do any Route 95 driving, I usually do it late at night. Not quite as bad as during the day.

In theory, you are not allowed in the Baltimore tunnels with compressed gas (LP). You are supposed take 895 east and use the bridge. That is what I have done many times. It is not a significant inconvenience.

No Tunnels for sure out of MD. Key Bridge in MD then DMBB, NJTPKE to 95N, GWB, Throgs Neck Bridge, 295 SOUTH (left 2 lanes coming down the bridge not the cross island pkwy), to 495 E (LI Expy).

There is no such thing as a fast route here. Only thing to do is try to hit off peak hours and there are about 2 of those .

Get an ezpass.

If your coming from west MD then 81N to 78E,287N, 80E to GWB.

DO NOT TAKE ANY PARKWAYS ON LI OR AROUND NYC. Low bridges and trailers are banned. Northern, Southern and Palisades all illegal.

Bucko06 is correct, no LP in either tunnel.
Another Option since you are SE of DC is head to Rt. 50 East across the Chesapeake then head north up Rt. 301 to Mt Pleasant Delaware. Jump on Rt. 1 there north to Christiana De. and pick up Rt. 95. Not much traffic and more farms and trees then 95. I use it anytime heading south to avoid Baltimore and some of the DC traffic. There is a rest stop about halfway and gas is cheaper in De.
Rt. 15 to Rt 81 to Rt. 78 will still put you though DC and will be much longer but lesser traffic after DC

Great advice here , thanks all. One other question. I remember bridge tolls where either coming into the city or leaving the city, or both ways. Any advice on those bridges. If I'm correct I think the GW was pay coming in & free going out? Also remember the VZ was one way , just don't remember, so long ago.

GWB into NY. Throgs both ways at about $20.00 per trip over. Figure $110.00 in tolls give or take depending on time of day and day of week. NJTPK and Throgs are the majority of it.
