[QUOTE=krcarter54;262782]If you ABSOLUTELY love noise, constant traffic and fearing for your children's lives from being ran over by one of the millions of golf carts then by all means stay at on of the huge commercial camp grounds at Myrtle Beach! QUOTE]

Ocean Lakes...yes. The others are not nearly as bad.

This thread has been around for awhile, but keeps getting info posted. I'll add my favorite place to RV in Myrtle Beach too. Briarcliffe RV Resort on kings Hiway up pretty close to the Alabama Theater. They are great, not much traffic and just a wonderful place to stay. I have been to the big parks that are mentioned on here and found them to not be my favorite place to be. The state park campground just south of Myrtle Beach is nice too.

Never have seen a snake there. Snakes were mentioned earlier in this thread.

Even though this thread was started in 2013, it still has good info about coastal SC CG's. That being said, I've seen no mention of Hunting Island SP. Got a trip planned for there in April. Never been before. Just wondering if any of y'all have ever been and have recommendations?

We camp there often. They are in the process of adding another section to the CG this year. All sites are spacious. Some have sewer. Great hiking, beach and nature exhibits. Don't miss the mansion tour and Brookgreen Gardens across the highway. I think there are some malls and entertainment nearby too! LOL

Good information for a newbie. We just reserved the first week in June for Myrtle Beach RV Park; seems like a good compromise between the busiest three in So Myrtle and the State Parks.
Thanks for the insight.

You talking about the State park?

We booked for Pirateland for the first week of April. I'm sure it will be a little nuts and very different from our normal camping (mello), but I think the kids (their Spring Break) will have a blast and we're looking to head south in the new Rig anyway. Should be a fun trip.

Pirate Land was too chaotic for us, too many drunks and noise.

We always stay at LAKELAND because we have family living there. This is next door to the PIRATELAND and the kids over there seems to be having a great time. All of the inland lakes have the PIRATE themes... Everyone we have talked to staying there with kids has nothing but praise ???

My choice down that way would be Huntington STATE PARK... You camp up under the trees and have have full run of the beaches...

Camping North of Pirateland/Lakewood group of camp sites gets you into the flight path of the Myrtle Beach Airport. Big planes coming in with landing gear down and smiley faces of the pilots sometimes gets your attention... If you wave at them they sometimes wave back... The MB airport is just a block off the Ocean.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park is a very well managed park, right on the beach.
Been going there for many years, on problems, ever.
