Usery Mountain Park Az info

We have been going to this park for 3 years. The 15th of this month wife and I went to spend 7 days there. I took the Excursion and trailer and D/W drove her car. When we got to Usery the host at the gate told me that we had to pay $6.00 a day extra for the wifes car besides the $25.00 per nite camping fee. Now mind you we have taken wifes car there before and never had to pay extra. Host at gate said that we could go set up then go to the nature center and talk to the park ranger. After getting set up we headed over there and the ranger was busy with interviews and we told another host to please have her come by and talk to us. She never did. While walking our dog we seen a truck, toyhauler, and 2 motorcycles in the same spot and only one of them had a pass to get in. Another motorhome had a huge trailer and in the trailer was a car and a motorcycle. only one pass. I talked to another host and asked him about this and was told some host let things slide and some are hardnose and do things by the book. I e-mailed usery and am waiting for a reply. If going there just be aware. This is not a state park. Later Ernie

If you hear back from them let us know what the final word is. Other than that was it a nice trip?

That could be arranged. Perhaps next winter as my Polaris is temporarily out of service for a couple more weeks.

Called to Usery again and The Ranger who's in charge answered. Talked to her and the reason for the $6.00 per day for the wifes car is Wear and Tear on the campsite grounds. [ the campsite is covered with pee gravel] Asked her about people bringing Toyhaulers and paying for one vehicle while taking out other vehicles from the toyhauler and using the sticker from the tow vehicle, she says she doesn't know how to combat that, told her ask the people with toyhauler whats in them, and if it another vehicle charge them, not that hard. She asked me what I thought about Usery and I told her that it is nice but the campground host need to do a little more to the sites that were just vacated Also found out that to be a host at that park for your campsite you have to work 40 hours a week. There is no pay [money wise]. She asked if we will be back and I said if we only have the truck and trailer yes but if we bring wifes car no. Only took 28 days to get a answer. Ernie
