Waterloo State Rec Area Michigan

Anyone ever camp here? Looks like there is at least 2 campgrounds, is one better than the other? Is it far from the Henry Ford Museum? I am stepping out of my comfort zone, we have been going to Van Buren State park for the last 3 years and I like that park, wife wants to go somewhere else.

Thanks in advance

I hear you about stepping out of your comfort zone. We always end up going to Fort Custer Recreation Area. I have been looking at Waterloo too. The thing we like at Ft Custer, the sites are kind if spread out and there is some privacy. You can always do a search for Waterloo reviews.

Ive stayed at the Waterloo sugarloaf lake cg a couple years ago. They have nice grassy sites. If I remember correctly, the cg itself has paved roads, but getting to it is a very washboard bumpy gravel road. Turns out, our family reunion was at the portage lake cg (there are several shelters there) which looks a bit nicer and does not require you to travel any dirt roads. The bath house at sugarloaf is the newer style the state parks are now using. As far as its proximity to the other attractions you are asking about, I don't know. I will tell you its a ways to go if you need a Meijer or walmart. Think we had to go back to Jackson to find one. Have you looked at Yankee Springs state park? The Gun Lake unit is nice. We go there a few times a year
