WI to Washington DC

In 2 weeks we'll be doing our annual family camping trip. We are planning on 2 1/2 days to get to DC (actually the MD KOA) - we'll be staying at KOA's along the way.
2 years ago, we rented a POS camper and towed it around Lake Michigan - this caused us to buy our Jayco. LOL Then last year we went towed to St Louis MO and Chicago IL.
I had a weight dis hitch and then last week I added a sway control to the trailer too. It's going to be a long haul but we are definitely looking forward to the family memories!

Well the trip was great! I have to admit that the Washington DC KOA was top notch, but you paid for it - it was about $25-30 more per night than the others. It's a 60 minute shuttle ride to downtown DC. They drop you off right at the US Capitol. The only one I didn't like was the KOA on the East side of Pittsburg, although it was probably a combination of the sites were on an incline, there was some big family reunion/party going on and they lost water pressure in the middle of the night. Oh and their water was so nasty that it tasted like crap when we made coffee, had to dump it out and use bottled water. I like well water but this stuff was bad.

Glad you made it safely and enjoyed the trip. D.C. Is full of interesting and historic places to visit. Our favorites are the Library of Congess, the US mint, and Monticello, which is justna short boat ride away

We tried to hit 2-3 places per day - that way you can enjoy it without having to rush through.
Day 1 - Arlington Cemetery, Air & Space Museum, US Capitol and the National Mall
Day 2 - National Cathedral, White House (from the outside ), Lincoln Memorial and the National Mall (including all the memorials along the way)
Day 3 - Holocaust Museum, National Achieves and Union Station
Day 4 - we stayed at the campgrounds which turned out to be a good choice since it rained for the better part of the day.
I can see how you can easily spend a week or more there and still not get it all in.
We took the Old Town Tours in DC, it's a great way to see a lot of things and it's narrated so you get to understand what you are seeing. We did the same thing a few months ago when we were in San Diego.
