You can open the roof vent 1/2" and be fine.. Big buddy's have a low o2 sensor and shut off if there is a build up of gas.. I have not used my furnace since I got the Big Buddy heater..

Sean45, I am thinking like you. In my case, the battery could fall off the RV and I would not know it. I'm always connected to shore power or tow vehicle power. In both cases, the rig gets power from an external source, so the battery could be dead. I suspect I need to replace the battery. It is a 2012 RV and the battery is a 60 month battery. It is clean and full of water. Dead battery would account for the failure in January. At that time the RV only had the battery power.

Thanks to all that have chimed in.

Yes, we crack a window near the bed and crack the bathroom vent. I don't think our rig is anywhere near tight enough to restrict oxygen but why take a chance.

Who needs a furnace on a cold, cold night? Snuggle up to your significant other, and pray to God that they don't turn around and put their icy cold feet on your lower back

While I like to use space heaters, there is a big drawback if you are in below freezing weather. Water lines. Many of our trailers are configured so the heat ducting will direct air to prevent water lines from freezing. If you use a space heater instead of the furnace the heat is not getting to those water lines/tanks.

So, I limit my use of space heaters to those nights when the temps will be above a hard freeze.

Also, if the temps are very low (0-20F) a single (or sometimes two) 12V deep cycle batteries will not last the night since the furnace will run a lot.
