Costco Has Champion 2.8kW Inverter Gen on Sale

I'm not pushing this but I saw this and thought I'd share it. Costco has Champion's 2.8kW (3.1kW peak) Digital Inverter Gas Generator on sale for $699. That's $100 off the normal price through the end of this month. The reviews seem to indicate it's a good buy. For you guys that like to boondock and need something more powerful than say a Honda/Yamaha 2kW inverter, this might be the ticket. Check it out.

Costco also has this Smarter Tools 2000 watt inverter available.

Anybody had experience with either of these compared to Honda?

I always used Honda to run my business remote base and know they last longer than the generic brands. But that was a whole different animal - 150 days a year, 8-12 hours a day.

Great price. I'm really considering it. I wonder how much louder it really is than the Honda...

Says Decibels: 58 Dba from 23 ft. and Honda says 49-58 dB.

I just bought one. If it's to loud or doesn't work right back to Costco it goes.

That's one thing with Costco. If you don't like it (for any reason), you return it and get your money back. No BS.

I received the generator since it is snowing again the update on how it works will have to wait. It does come with a lot of accessories like USB plug adapter and jumper cables. Delivery was pretty quick.

Looking at the two, they seem to be the same with the possible exception of the EPA & CARB compliance. The one sold in CA also gets very good ratings from buyers so it sounds like a good deal.

tick to know on this deal

Anyone have any current reviews on this? I am really wanting to pull the trigger but kind of chicken and would like to know how it does. The YouTube reviews look pretty solid as well.

No personal experience -- but I will say since Champion got into the inverter generator business a few years ago I really have only heard positive reviews. If I needs a generator I wouldn't hesitate to buy this, especially since Costco is the seller and will accept returns with no issues.

x2 what Clubhouse said... If you purchase and have buyers remorse, simply return to Costco for a full refund. No BS.

You can read the reviews there on both the US and CA Costco sites too for that gen. Folks seem to have good things to say.

It sure sounds good on paper. But then again, you usually get what you pay for. I just wonder why they are so much lower in cost. Anyone know where they are manufactured?

I can't speak of the champion inverter but I can the champion 4000\3500 generator I have had it for a little over 3 years now. It always starts on 2nd pull and works great. The biggest problem with generators and inverters is that they tend to sit for long periods of time without being used. I start mine at least once a month and plug 8n a drop light let it run for about 10 minutes then I unplug my light and turn the gas off and let it run its self out of gas. So far no problems at all. Very happy with this purchase.

A Google search answered my question. Champions are made in China. A generator review site praised their performance, but questioned their longevity.

I guess we need to buy one and see for ourself.
