Flying J Locations !!

It is a well known fact that most Flying J Truck Stops are RV-friendly! Many of them have a separate area for overnight RV parking away from the semi trucks. Some don’t!

I’ve read from others who have done so that you can still go on the trucker’s side but they try to follow the truckers' rules if they do: Don't go into the truckers parking area with your headlights on after dark (use your parking lights); dont take a pull-through site if you don't need it; stay between the parking lines; don't push out your slides; and use common sense and courtesy.

Conversely, I’ve also read that some truckers (rare) aren’t especially happy with an RV taking up one of their spots (some driver’s tend to be territorial). Some complaints have included: Has had RV vandalized; connecting pins removed from toad tow bars; and safety cables cut. So it’s best to check out your rv/connections/etc anytime you overnight park *anywhere* just to be safe.

If you use the truck stops to stay overnight, by all means fill your tank, get propane, eat a meal, or buy something in the convenience store 

Happy Boondocking!

I have never stopped overnight at a Flying J but do try to fuel there to take advantage of the cards I have. We Canucks might have a problem with the headlight thing as we have day time running lights, but then I don't think I would want to park in an area where the semis are because of the noise of engines running all night.

I've seen several that have RV parking not directly in front of the resturant, but off towards a section by a corner of the lot. I always go in and ask if they have a specific place for RVs to park. If they do, they are happy to direct you and will certainly appreciate the courtesy of asking

Love the Js and Pilots (they are combining) -- I have never stayed overnight, but have rested in several for a while. I always ask where the best place to go is. Sometimes they have a few spots set aside for RVs that are up front. Many times they have said - I wouldnt go back in the back of the trucker lot, it can be a little rough.

On the allstays.com -- they have an iPhone/iPad app that is really handy called "Camp & RV". The developer seems like a real nice guy and is very responsive to inquires and requests.

I have yet to see a Flying J that didn't have separate RV and truck parking. I've stayed at Flying J's in Gulfport, MS and Montgomery, AL and was welcomed each time. They do value our business.

Flying J's are nice to see. Easy in and out and some even have dump stations!

We don't have Flying J truck stops in my neck of the woods. I do see the odd Flying J fuel tanker on the Trans-Canada in Saskatchewan, though.

The one in Tucson (Eloy) started charging $10 to use the dump station - up until then I was a big Flying J fan - now not so much.

I use Flying J to fuel up whenever I can. The Good Sam 8 cents/gallon diesel discount saves me about $5.00/fillup. If I have to use the dump, I get 1/2 off on that too & 10 cents off/gallon on propane. But whatever I save the DW usually gives 'em back in the store.
