How long with 2-30 lbs of LP
Wondering roughly how long you get out of 2-30 lb tanks of LP with fridge on and using furnace little at night ? I know batt power you have to watch but if that's ok how long roughly?

Dragged the thing home 5/9/15 with 2 full 30's. 5 days boondocking 5/22-26/15. Cooked, ran the fridge, plenty of hot water. Used the furnace 2 nights.
Some cooking while parked at home, some hot water.
Still running on can #1.
My old trailer had one 20# can. That would easily handle 4 days with standing pilots on all (less efficient) appliances.
No possible way to figure!
I'm gonna run tank #1 to empty and let the changeover valve do it's job. Then refill the empty and run tank #2 until it runs out. Repeat as needed.

We hardly refill our 2 20lb tanks once a year. Means nothing as to your usage.

propane usage
The amt of propane used in a furnace is based on the ambient temp. The colder it is the more gas will be consumed. your question cannot be accurately answered. All our camping last year, we used almost one 30# cylinder. You will be surprised how long a tank will last. Just use one tank at a time and when one is empty, change over and get that tank filled.

As everyone else above has said, hard to determine your exact usage. But here is our average usage with 2 20# tanks. (And for you youngsters out there the # sign means pounds)
6 weekend trips
cooking on the stove top
secondary heating on the hot water heater (when we take our showers I kick the gas on for faster heating)
Central heater kicks on 3 - 4 times for oh.. 5 - 10 minutes each night.
End of year not even emptied 1 tank..

Furnace is probably the number 1 gas consumer. So it really comes down to how much furnace time. We camp a fair amount in early and late season, when we do we have an electric site, and primarily use a small ceramic electric heater. At the end of the season, I fill one tank, and it still is not empty.
I know people with PUs who go through a #20 tank every day.

It all depends on how much you use every day. Last year I was going through 30 lbs a week camping.. this year I did 4 weeks with one 30 lb bottle. Same boondocking location just different weather..

As others have said, it lasts a whole lot longer than you think.
If you are using your furnace "a little at night" as you've described, then those tanks will last you a long time. No way to be specific, but you should be good for your fall hunting trip unless you are hunting/camping above the arctic circle.

propane is about 22,000btu per pound, so you can use a 12,000 btu heater 100+ hours on 2 tanks like that, and the heater is the thing that will take the most gas...

We go on a trip each New Years, it's usually 5 nights. Last year it was cold, nighttime lowes ~25* and we have no special cold weather package, and we went through a 30lb bottle and about 1/3 of another. That was running a lot of furnace at night and occasionally during the day too.
Other than that we usually get 15 nights out of a bottle. Furnace is the killer; water heater, cooking and fridge hardly consume any.

Try a catalytic heater the use no electricity, are quiet and sip propane, I have used one in a 40ft my. A 17 ft tt. They are super, can rig up a quick connect inside rig and just click it on

Propane usage
I owned my older Starcraft for three years and never had to change the propane tank. I used the heater occasionally, the refrigerator often, and the cooktop regularly. I was amazed at how little propane the system used.

In single digits temps (f), about 2 days.
I spent a week in an Oklahoma ice storm and was mighty glad the propane station was only a block away.

We finished a weekend trip where temps dropped from 70s to 20s. Left it in the drive with the furnace on to keep it from freezing. I was surprised the next morning when checking on it as it was VERY cold inside. Since I didn't sleep in it, the thermostat was clearly too high and I ran the 30lb tank dry. It wasn't full to start; but still didn't expect that. Filled the tank (7.4 gallons at 25 degrees) and hit the road on another trip. We have the glacier package; but the furnace is definitely needed frequently with 20 degree temps. Played it conservative to experiment. Keeping between 60-65 the first night, I bought an electric ceramic heater for night 2. With the ceramic heater on high, the furnace only ran twice. With the electric heater (saves propane cost) I only used 5 pounds of propane for three nights in the 20s. You definitely just need to get to know your trailer.

That's right and it's been a season and a half I have owned it and am surprised at how little it uses! Haven't used furnace much only to test and check but run fridge a lot on it and actually switched to 2/20lb tanks for lighten up tounge weight with now worries. Good to have both sizes ,had them around anyway.
