Inverter issue

I recently set up an auxiliary battery in my van. I have a inverter thats 2000 watts. I used all 4 gauge wire. I plugged in a simple fan small fan and it wont run on high and when it runs on low, the power goes up and down. I dont know why its doing this. Is the inverter messed up?

Size and type of battery ( current reading of idle voltage if you have that )

From the back of the fan, a wattage or amp rating.

Also curious how you hooked up the AUX battery.

This is how you would hook up two 6VDC batteries in SERIES and two 12VDC batteries in Parallel.



In both cases verify that the battery cable that goes to FRAME GROUND is connected to the battery terminal that is marked 'NEG' or has the SYMBOL '-'

The 12VDC battery BANK should be reading 12.6VDC if charged-up normally.

You probably have a modified sine wave inverter... any motor that runs at variable speed does not like a mod sinewave.. You need a full sinewave inverter.. (way more expen$ive) mod sinewave + variable speed motor=fire hazard. The motor will get really HOT

I have it all hooked up right. I am a idiot though, i tested in the house and the fan was doing the same thing. Its brand new so i did not do it earlier.

It seems to work with batteries though. I guess ill get a new one.

It is a mod sine inverter. I did not think of that or know it could be a fire hazard. So, theres no safe fan with a mod sine inverter?
