Question on Paralelling a Honda Generator

I just bought two 2000i Honda generators, one regular and one companion. If I have them hooked together and run them in the morning when i have the coffee pot, Hair dryer, tv, microwave etc going I know I will run them both but after that I would only need to run one. My question is can I shut one down and leave one running while they are hooked up parallel to save on the engines/gas?

Yes
Sometimes even with a boat gas tank hooked up one will run out of gas first and I still have power. Not as much...maybe enough to run what you stated with one as well. But no 13500 or,bigger AC.
