Boondocking Shakedown
October boondocking - our first shakedown, and the campground is virtually vacant except for a herd of elk! The man-kitchen is open and ready for business ... and I get to take it easy! Basalt Flats, San Luis Reservoir, Merced County, California near the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery (conflux of highway 5, Los Banos, and Gustine).

First time into the boondocks with the new trailer
This past weekend (Canadian long one) we took the trailer out to Gray lake north of Campbell River, BC. We had a great time with lake side view of an old logging rail bridge
the TV, a Nissan Frontier hauls it and all our gear flawlessly
our solar panel keeps the battery topped up
grilling over the open fire for delicious meals
and a feathered friend mascot who hung out with us for the weekend
We had a great stay, except for the neighbor firing up his genny @ 8:30 Sunday morning

Couple of my favorites.
1st one is a high mountain meadow surrounded by wilderness on all sides, only access is a single forest road the splits the wilderness. I shoot my bow & gun right from by camp, let my kids be kids and not have to worry about bothering or being bothered by anyone else.
2nd one is an old fire pond that is stocked with trout. Again, hardly ever anyone there and the forest extends for 30+miles in all directions.

SWMBO's 7.5 ac lot in the Adirondacks.
All set up:
Terry cooking marshmallows her way (yuk!)
The most relaxing place I have ever found (10 minute hike from the campsite):
The white noise from the falls. The rocks warmed by the sun. I have gotten in the best naps in that little hollow off to the left...
When we tent camped on her property, we usually pitched the tent 2 feet from the water's edge.
Currently there is no level place between where we set up the TT and the creek. And getting it back up the logging road would require a winch.

Mike,
Looks like a nice spot tucked into the woods, and the river takes it up a notch

Yes, it is!
Throw in helpful, friendly neighbors 1/2 mile away and we're at near perfection.
Birdsong as an alarm clock. No light pollution at night.

Black Lake Campground, Nopiming Provincial Park, Manitoba in 2006. This was our old rig:
If I turned around and climbed down the rocks I was standing on in the first picture, this is the view that greeted me (a little later in the day):

Photo taken yesterday evening between thunderstorm bursts rolling in off Lake Michigan while boondocking in the Manistee National Forest.
Another view of the campsite, pic taken earlier in the week:
