Where in Michigan

The wife seen an rv commercial on tv that showed boondocking in the desert or mountains. Just wondering does any one know of a place in Michigan where you can the same feeling. Unfortunately we have neither here.

Yes we do!

How about on the west side of the Porcupine Mountains in the Michigan UP, with a large rustic camp site on the bluffs overlooking Lake Superior........,

This is the name of the rustic campground located 16 miles off the main highway.......,

Just a little hike into the mountains and you can find........,

....and after a nice afternoon hike sit back and enjoy............,

If you want to boondock this is the place to go!

Just a little more info: http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthread.php?t=2514

Many years ago I had a truck slide in camper and boondocked many places in the U.P. A little caution though, some of the rustic campgrounds I don't think I could drag a trailer to.

In the northern lower where I live there is tons of state forest that you can camp in. I Jeep the two tracks and rarely see anyone camping except for deer season, then you will see fifth wheelers and tents in very remote areas. Only problem is you might not be close to water if you want to swim or fish.

There are many state forest campgrounds that don't have hookups, but they charge a fee to stay, they are usually on lakes or rivers.

Spent almost a month there. Trails to hike, fish to catch...... you just don't want to leave.

As long as we are in Michigan, does anyone have a pic of the water tank in Newberry? Several years ago Sallie and I drove several hundred miles out of our way and spent a night in Newberry just to get a pic of that water tank. We found the tank and the paint crew had it all in primer. Slight disapointment.:hihi:
