2 things (among many) that I have learned here
First....no matter what the owners manual says, your RV weighs more than that!
Second...you can never have too much truck for pulling all that understated weight!

Well, the frame on my trailer says it should not be towed by a one ton truck or more so I might have to disagree with you on that point. lol

As long as the trailer is sitting level while being towed I really don't see how it cares how big or heavy duty the truck is.

X2 - can't see how the size of the truck would make any difference at all, as long as it's level.

Could the trailer with lighter frame be dependent on a softer suspension of the truck versus a stiff 1 ton. I don't see the problem either, just tossing that out there

A bit of a stretch here but imagine your 22' TT being yanked around by a Peterbuilt as its running through all those gears from a dead stop.

No idea, but when I get the trailer out of the shop I'll snap a pic for you.

Amen to that!
I wonder how many transmissions have had to be replaced because people overloaded their tow vehicles?

Yep, I've seen the same sticker on some lite weight trailers as well. I "think" what Jayco is saying is that they know that the particular lite A-frame and lite trailer frame in question has known limitations, and reducing the transfer of road vibrations (via a stiff suspension TV like a 1-ton) to the trailer A-frame reduces failure risk.
Similar to those maximum size WDH stickers located on the side of some A-frames.
I recall a few years back a couple of RV manufactures having some A-frame "bending" issues with some Lite trailers, and I believe Jayco was one of them.

After looking at the spec, I can understand more, with only 675 pounds that can be put in the trailer, makes sense to me. The Jayco tent trailer 1206 we had you could load 1000 lbs of stuff and the gvw was just about the same.

Well if you pull a typical 5th wheel today with a class 8 Peterbuilt without softening the suspension and using an air ride hitch you will hammer the heck out of the frame and eventually stuff will start to break. This is especially true today with some of the cattle trails out there they call roads.
