2011 Models Change to Dark Cherry Wood

Am I the only one who doesn't care for the dark cherry color introduced on all Jayco 2011 models? Ive always liked the oak-style cabinetry. It feels more outdoorsy. I have a 2009 Eagle Superlite 256RKS, so I have what I want but see myself looking elsewhere for my next upgrade. Come on Jayco! Cherry in every single model?

Welcome to the forum... I like the cherry, but, in a perfect world - it would be nice to select whatever flavor you would like...

It's a matter of taste. I personally like the cherry. I do think the fabric choices aren't that great though. I didn't really care for any of the 3.

Welcome to the forum brianmaki. We have an '08 Eagle and I like the lighter color of the Oak. Seems to brighten up the interior more. IMHO the cherry looks more elegant though.

We have the oak with cinnamon fabrics which we chose when ordering. That combination and the color of the linoleum was perfect for our tastes. They change the fabric and floor colors around somewhat every year. I think the cabinets were oak colored for several years before the change to cherry. I actually like em both, although the cherry may make for a slightly darker interior. Some of the fabric color schemes I `ve seen over the years I did not care for. But once again its all about personal tastes.

We do not like the dark wood in our trailer. When we bought it we kept saying to each other "look at the floor plan". We still like the floorplan and hate the dark color. We both prefer Honey Oak. We did pass on another brand last summer because of the dark wood.

I also prefer oak to cherry but the cherry looks nice. I'm not all that impressed with the fabrics but that can be replaced as they wear.

I suspect the reason Jayco uses the cherry in all of their line has to do with inventory minimization and mass production, all of which reduces costs which makes the final product more competitive in price. Much, if not all, of the cabinetry modules are used in multiple models. If Jayco was to stock multiple cabinetry colors, it would slow production and would require more inventory on hand which increases overhead expenses (such as module production, finishing, and warehousing). Overhead is anathema to a business since it eats into profits (and also increases the cost of the product).

Boy! I do have to agree on the fabric pattern. Ours is a new to us 2008 197, and the sofa fabric is big time cheesy. As mentioned above, it would not be a big deal to have it recovered, though.

Well, we have gone through the "blue/green/yellow toilets/bathtubs/sinks" eras and survived, so I guess we can likely live through this too!!

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Brian Maki! It would be nice to have options on the cabinetry
