Your furnace proper, is only propane, with electric for blower, and controls. Be sure to give it time to fire up the first time, as the propane has to get there first. Light the stove first to get it moving. It'll help. It may have to cycle a couple of times before it lights, but you'll hear the difference.

More correctly, your heater works on both propane and 12 volt power.
So you don't need to be plugged into electricity, but you do need to have your propane turned on and you need to have your battery charged up. And if you aren't plugged into shore power, the furnace will drain your battery in just a night or two (depending on how cold it is and how often it needs to run).

The first time you run the furnace, open some windows as the inside metal metal parts are coated in a light oil that will burn off in just a short while.
