30amp to 50amp dogbone question.......

Out of curiosity if one were to spend the $250 on a 30 amp progressive surge protector that plugs into the pedestal, would plugging the surge protector into a 30 to 50 adaptor and then plugging that into the 50 amp outlet on the pedestal be a problem???? Very new to this, have spent better 1/2 of last month reading forums and following information, but I know nothing at all about electricity.......Thanks for your help..

I can't see it hurting anything. I have the internal 30A surge protector installed and I have used the 50A side of the pedestal before without incident.
